Hello From Halifax!

Hi Grade five/six.
This is just a note to let you all know that I am thinking of you.  I am still in Halifax attending meetings about the grade six literacy assessment, but I will be back to school on Wednesday and I can't wait to see everyone!  Special happy birthday wishes go out to Lindsay.  Don't forget to sit in the comfy chair today!

P-2 snowmen

The grade P-2 classes are having fun building snowmen. They all worked together to make these snowmen! It took them a half an hour to build them. They built them at recess. They don't have any accessories but they still look great. This was posted by: Katelyn, Nolan, Brooke, and Zach.

Taekwondo

For the WOW reading challenge Carleton School had a few kids from a taekwondo group come in and show us some moves. One of the things that they showed us is how to break a board with their bare hands. It was really cool and fun!! By: Tyler, Lindsay, and Sydney.

Hip Hop Dance Workshop

Today our school was very lucky because we had a professional Hip Hop dancer come to our school. He is also on The Next Step After show. He taught us how to do some break dance moves. Posted by Monica, Nathan, Jersey, and Sara

Cooking class with Kal

On Friday we went to a cooking class at Sobey's. We made a delicious mac n' cheese. We also made a delicious pineapple angle cake with a yummy salad on the side. After we ate the food Kal made a frog out of  a green pepper and a mouse out of a radish. It was a fun trip! Now we know how to make our own mac n'cheese ! Posted by: Katelyn, Nolan, and Zach

The DARE program

Last week we found out that we are going to do the DARE program.The DARE program is when Mario Ross comes to our classroom to teach us about the dangers of drugs, alcohol, and smoking. He is planning to come every Tuesday for 8 weeks. We will have tons of fun!

The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe

In language arts, we are doing a novel study on the book The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe. Each day we have L.A, we usually read one chapter. We have only read one chapter so far. We are excited about what will come next! Posted by: Cale, Savannah, Quintin, and Olivia.

Succesful Bottle Drive

Our bottle drive was a success!!! We raised just over $300 which brings us closer to$ 4000 which is how much money we need for our class trip to Halifax. This blog was posted by: Nolan, Katelyn, Brooke.

Team X books.

 

 In guided reading we are reading Team X books. These books are new to our class. Team X is a group of kids that found watches that make them micro size. The books can be fact books, or they can be stories. Our group is doing the story "Volcano".

Book Talks

These books are some of the books we are reading for our book talk at the end on the month. Everyone is going to chose a date and present the book that they are reading. The World in French!

In our french class we are learning about the 7 continents. Mr. Thornton is teaching us how to say the 7 continents in french. He is assigning us a project where we tell him in french where in the world we want to go. Also we have to tell him what tourist attractions are in the place we would like to go in the future. We are going to learn much more about the place we want to go, and it will be lots of fun!

Winter Wonderland!

Happy new year!!! Our grade 5/6 class is having a bottle drive this Friday January 10 school hours and Saturday January 11, 9am -11am. Please bring bottles and support our grade 5/6 class trip to Halifax.
